About MNF
About Maternal and Newborn Fund
Improving maternal nutrition is one of the smartest, most cost-effective investments in global health.
— World Health Organization
Established as a Swiss non-profit association headquartered in Geneva, the Maternal and Newborn Fund (MNF) combines philanthropic capital with catalytic financing tools to deliver large-scale, evidence-based solutions that protect mothers and improve newborn outcomes. Backed by a trusted network of technical partners and multilateral agencies, MNF tackles the most urgent and preventable causes of maternal and newborn mortality through cost-effective interventions that are embedded in national systems and strengthened through global partnerships.
At its core is BirthStrong, the flagship program set to distribute over 915 million Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS). This bold, scalable initiative transforms the most vulnerable phase of life, pregnancy, into a safer and more empowered experience, helping to prevent anaemia, reduce adverse outcomes, and give newborns a stronger start to life.
MNF is also a core member of the global MMS coalition, alongside Kirk Humanitarian, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), the Gates Foundation, and other leading partners. Together, the coalition is advancing a global roadmap to reach 260 million women in 63 crisis-affected countries by 2030. By aligning its financing and large-scale delivery model with this collective effort, MNF helps ensure that resources are mobilised efficiently and life-saving nutrition reaches those who need it most.
MNF combines blended finance, public-private partnerships, and local system strengthening to create lasting, measurable impact in fragile contexts
